ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
We are committed to providing a good, high quality service whilst also minimising the environmental impact of our activities and we encourage our guests to follow this example.
RECYCLING
We provide recycling bins for paper, plastics and cans and glass and encourage our guests to use these. All unclaimed lost property is donated to charity after 2 weeks if unclaimed.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Our heating systems are thermostatically controlled and set to a schedule. We would ask our guests to minimise all heating requirements and be conscious of water usage and wastage.
We encourage all guests to minimise energy use by turning off televisions, lights and radiators when not needed.
Our properties are double glazed.
Our hot tubs are set at 38 degrees for max electricity efficiency. Temp can be increased to 40 degrees max - we ask guests to bear in mind this will increase energy use. The tubs are cleaned/refilled and maintained using schedules and products required for hospitality use, meeting all current standards for safety and insurance purposes. These may differ from methods used for home hot tubs.
TRANSPORT AND GETTING AROUND
Local buses and trains are available 3/4 mile away at Ladybank station. You can reach Edinburgh in under an hour by train.
VOLUNTEERING
We volunteer at our local Community Larder and also for the RNID. We regularly donate vouchers to local charities and charities close to our hearts. We're sorry we can't donate to every cause.
SUSTAINABILITY
We are lucky to have some great little businesses nearby. Since we opened in 2006, we have continued to support local pubs, restaurants, cafes, services, attractions and stores in and around our village by recommending our guests visit and use them.
LANDSCAPE AND WILDLIFE FEATURES
We love where we live and strive to look after the local habitat and woodland for all wildlife. We regularly litter pick our road and woodland. We have put up bird feeders and leave areas of wild garden for insects where appropriate.
GUEST TOILETRIES AND CLEANING PRODUCTS
Wherever possible we seek goods that are not over-packaged and products that are sustainable, eco friendly or refillable. We try to supply 'Fair Trade' welcome products wherever possible. In an effort to reduce plastic and waste, we have removed small bottle toiletries from our rooms and switched to refillable pump bottles.
It's an ever changing landscape and we will keep looking at ways to reduce our impact on the environment.
