TO VISIT
One of our families favourite places. The hunting estate grounds are fantastic for family walks and for tiring out Fido!
Falkland Palace is an impressive Renaissance building set in the heart of the town of Falkland, at the foot of the Lomond Hills. It was once a favoured place of retreat and leisure for the Stuart Kings and Queens of Scotland, including Mary Queen of Scots.
A magnificent Renaissance royal hunting lodge can be found in the estate grounds.
The palace grounds have lush green lawns, colourful herbaceous borders and many unusual shrubs and trees complete the setting for this memorable property.
ST ANDREWS
What can we say that's not already out there? History, cathedral, castle, beaches and of course, the Old Course!
Try the wee East sands beach too if you don't fancy the long beach near the golf course. It's quieter and not far from the castle.
TO ENTERTAIN
BYRE THEATRE, ST ANDREWS
Pop in, if only for a coffee, just to see what they've achieved with this mix of old and new architecture. There's a new kids play area for those rainy Scottish days!
Productions change regularly so check out their online diary.
